Milspec Services Selected to Support M113Milspec Services is pleased to announce the succesful bid and award of a contract to supply Spare parts (Consumables) to the M113AS family of vehicles. The contract has extended beyond the bid and is a milestone in the support of the Australian Army. The Australian Army is currently issuing 431 M113AS3/4 vehicles to Armoured and Mechanised Infantry units. These vehicles have been extensively upgraded compared to the 1960’s version of this venerable battle taxi. Improvements include the T50 turret being removed and replaced with a single .50 Calibre machine gun with Quick change barrel and day & night fighting capability. Improved power plant and transmission and improved survivability with increased armour protection and spall liners. The AS4 model has been stretched and accommodate a 6th road wheel.
There are seven variants of the M113AS being produced. These are Armoured Personnel Carrier (M113AS4 APC); Armoured Fitters (M113AS4 AF); Armoured Recovery Vehicle Light (M806AS4 ARVL); Armoured Ambulance (M113AS4 AA); Armoured Mortar (M125AS3 AM); Armoured Command Vehicle (M113AS4 ACV); and Armoured Logistic Vehicle (M113AS4 ALV).
